Transrectal Ultrasound Guided Prostate Biopsy

This is necessary to establish the diagnosis. The procedure is quick and should cause minimal discomfort. Antibiotics are commenced prior to the biopsy to reduce the risk of infection which is 1 to 2%.

Prostate biopsy is a procedure in which small samples are removed from a man's prostate gland to be tested for the presence of cancer.
